Meet your Doula

My Journey

Hiya, my name is Hannah. I am a wife, believer, ex-nurse, and a doula.

I don’t know about you, but I used to believe that birth was this scary, painful experience that women had to endure (I mean, do you see how they portray it in the movies??? 😬). That was until I saw my first home birth vlog. This portrayal of birth was very different from what I was used to seeing. The room was calm, & although the experience looked intense, the mom looked confident that she could bring her baby into the world. After seeing that homebirth - it clicked for me - birth is not an experience to be feared, it’s the opposite. God designed women’s bodies beautifully to create life and bring life into the world. Birth is a transformative experience that women are made for.

I knew from then on that I wanted to be a part of birth in some way. So, I took the traditional path and became a nurse 🏥. This was not an easy choice for me because I gravitated to homebirth. At one point I almost quit college to become a certified professional midwife but ultimately, I pushed through and got my nursing license. I worked as a post-partum RN and was discouraged by what I saw. I saw unnecessary c-sections, I saw unaddressed birth trauma and I saw a lack of trust in a woman’s body to bring her baby into the world.

I grew TIRED quickly. It was exhausting to be surrounded by people who feared birth and did not trust the brilliant process that God designed. Instead, a lot of my peers saw birth as a problem that needed an intervention thrown at it to be solved.

Every day that I went to work, was a battle for me. My soul was torn 😔. I became a nurse to help serve women at the most vulnerable time of their lives but I found myself working in a system driven by policies, liability, & money, I found it hard to truly serve women. So in 2024, I made the difficult decision to quit my full-time job and pursue becoming a birth doula so that I can truly serve women.

Jesus is my first love but birth is my second love. I am passionate about helping women reclaim birth back into their hands.

When I am not supporting birth, you can find me deep into a great book, or trying to perfect my sourdough loaf 🍞 (I am not even close!! I’ll take any tips if you have any) or lost in the woods somewhere hiking. I appreciate a great cup of coffee over some meaningful conversation. I have been married to my husband Micah for 2 wonderful years. (when they say opposites attract … that is us 😝)

I would love to serve you as your birth doula or postpartum doula 💛

I am the doula for you if….

⚪️ You want to have an empowered birth

⚪️ You are ready to take responsibility for the choices you make regarding your birth and pregnancy

⚪️ You are ready to put in the work to become well-informed about your choices

⚪️ You desire to have a physiological birth

⚪️ You want to give birth at home ( I still support hospital birth 😉 but prefer homebirth)

I am not the doula for you if ….

⚪️ You have no idea of what you desire for your birth

⚪️ You want someone to give you all the answers regarding your birth and pregnancy

⚪️ You are not willing to put in work to become well-informed about your choices

⚪️ You desire to have all the interventions with your birth

⚪️ Choose an elective C-section ( & yes I have seen that many times as a nurse 🤯)

As a doula, I give lots of education but my clients have to take that education and decide what choices they want to make for their birth. I can’t make choices for you.
